A bite of cookie history
(NC)-Derived from the Latin word bis coctum, which means “twice baked”, cookies have been a considered a tasty snack for hundreds of years. Culinary historians believe cookies were created as an oven temperature test. Early bakers would use very small amounts of cake batter to test their oven temperatures before baking the final cake.
